“Each land has it’s own special rhythms and unless the traveller takes the time to learn these rhythms, he or she will remain an outsider.” Juliette de Bairacli Levy
For thousands of years Sicily has been conquered by many different peoples. Today, this island in the middle of the Mediterranean is facing the latest invader - tourism. Hoping that some of these foreigners have come to trade, rather than plunder, Antonietta and Ignazio Lo Cascio have formed a grass-roots Tourist Cooperative which invites visitors to stay in the homes of local families.
Sicilian Sojourn gives the viewer an experience of daily life within a Sicilian family and, through the use of music, poetry and lyrical montage, an understanding of the fast-disappearing Sicilian cultural traditions.
